Q: Who should attend Career Fair?

A: Career Fair is open to anyone interested in working in the fine jewelry industry, regardless of prior experience.

Q: How should I dress for Career Fair?

A: Dress for success. That means business attire, or what you would normally wear to a job interview. Remember, you will be meeting prospective employers and industry leaders who can help further your career in the industry. So, if you’re serious about your career, your attire should show it.

Q: What’s the difference between Career Coaching and On-Site Recruitment?

A: The Career Coaching area is where you have a chance to meet with industry leaders and ask questions about your career. The companies in the recruitment area are looking for employees for specific jobs.

Q: What kind of questions should I ask the coach?

A: Your questions should focus on job descriptions, duties, and requirements for a particular area you are interested in. I would focus on the particular area which you are interested in. For example, if your area is retail, a good question would be: "What type of training do I need in order to obtain a position in a retail store for sales, management, buying etc?"

Q: Should I bring my resume or samples of my work to show or leave with the coach?

A: Bring several of your resumes. One will be for the coach to review. You can also leave your resume at the Career Fair registration desk and with the recruiters.

Q: What happens if I am late for my coaching appointment?

A: Be on time. The appointments fill up rapidly and we have people who are waiting for an open spot. If you are not there we will fill your appointment with another job seeker.

Q: I am not sure what coaching area I want to go to. What do I do in this case?

A: You can speak with one of the coordinators of the Career Coaching session and they will guide you to the appropriate coach.

Q: What time can I start to schedule a coaching appointment?

A: In New York from 8:45 - 9:00 am; In Carlsbad from 8:00 - 8:30 am, and from 9:45 - 11:00am.

Q: Can I schedule a coaching appointment before the day of the event?

A: No. You must schedule your appointment at the event only.

Q: Can two job-seekers meet with one coach at the same time?

A: Only at the approval of the individual coach.

Q: Can I contact a coach after the event?

A: You will need to discuss this with each individual coach.

Q: Can I see more than one coach?

A: Yes, however you can only make one appointment initially (during the scheduled times). Additional appointments are on a first come first serve basis determined only after the event begins at 11:00 am in New York and 12:00 pm in Carlsbad.

Q: How long do I have to speak with a coach?

A: You will be limited to 20 minutes in New York and 15 minutes in Carlsbad per coach.
